While St. John’s No. 1 was not the birthplace of Freemasonry in the Colonial Province of New Jersey, it was the cradle, and from it have sprung a good many lodges and other Masonic organizations in the northern part of the state, most of which are still in existence.

Forest Hills #206 – Newark, NJ – Founded April 19 th 1917, merged with St. John’s #1 in 1967

Arcana #60 – Boonton, NJ – Founded January 22 1862, merged with St. John’s in 1979

Mountain Lakes #258 – Mountain Lakes, NJ – Founded April 23 rd 1925, merged with St. John’s 1978

St. John’s Lodge #1 – Newark, NJ – Founded May 13 , 1761.  The lodge number was changed from #1 to #2 on July3, 1787.  When St. John’s #1 was formed in New York, the number reverted back to #1 in 1842.
